I lived in Arkansas for two years. It doesn't surprise me that this story came from there. NW Arkansas is lovely and somewhat progressive. The rest of the state (with the exception of Little Rock) is like a real life version of "Deliverance."

Uh, I read the article.  Where exactly does it even imply any such thing? 

Here's the most inflammatory paragraph I could find: 

As anger rises, riots on the streets of American cities are inevitable. “Yes, yes, yes,” he says, almost gleefully. The response to the unrest could be more damaging than the violence itself. “It will be an excuse for cracking down and using strong-arm tactics to maintain law and order, which, carried to an extreme, could bring about a repressive political system, a society where individual liberty is much more constrained, which would be a break with the tradition of the United States.”

So, yes, riots are inevitable, that's his opinion, due to the unrest caused by a system that produces massive wealth for a tiny few while the masses remain unemployed and those with jobs declining pay.  OK, I agree, which is why it's sort of odd the plutocrats forgot the lessons of the importance of social stability. 

And the "cracking down and using strong arm tactics"- this is standard issue RP stuff, I thought you'd agree with that, I am pretty sure JR would agree, hence the discussion of the "police state" stuff...  We've seen part of it already, with riot police used to clear parks of peaceful protesters, firing tear gas canisters into the head of a veteran, then flash grenades into the crowd that gathered to help him, or the pepper spraying, etc.

I think the reason Soros said it "gleefully" is because it would help the prez for the election. BTW, the same prez who received more campaign money than anyone in history from Wall Street. The prez who also has a staff full of Wall Street multi-millionaires, and even an ex-Bain Capital employee for good measure.

There is NO excuse for violence by anyone as a means to expressing political opinions when there are perfectly legitimate means of expressing it adequately through non-violent means.  Unfortunately their are nut-jobs on both sides of the aisle we need to stand together and denounce them all.

Unfortunately, there are dangerous kooks, trigger-happy wackos, and lone gunmen out there. Bad people exist. Crazy people exist -- and every so often, one of them snaps and there's a resulting body count. To most people, this is just a tragic fact of life.

However, to liberals in the media who are forever baffled by events that the average person has grasped since he was a child, these killers tend to break down into three groups. If they're devout Muslims and are connected to terrorists, then they must have killed for some reason OTHER than their religion. If they're conservative murderers, then they must have killed because of Glenn Beck, talk radio, the Tea Party movement, or whoever the hot conservative villain of the moment is and they're obviously part of a wider trend. On the other hand, if they're liberal, well then, at best the killer in question must be some random wacko who should immediately be forgotten. At worst, liberals try to paint leftward leaning killers as conservatives.
